The Monroe t-shirt

The Monroe t-shirt is not really a t-shirt. It is a deconstructed sleeveless vest that exists somewhere between a garment and a jewel. Delicate organza forms the base, but the organza almost disappears. What you see instead is the Eclipsed Flora motif: large botanical forms built entirely from gold, amber, silver and black glass bugles and beads, clasped at their edges so the shapes hold together on their own. Long black bugles hang suspended from the centre of each motif, falling against the skin as you move. Monroe. Nothing between the embellishment and you.

For the evening where a garment and a jewel become the same thing.

The Craft

Organza base hand embroidered with the Eclipsed Flora motif in gold, amber, silver and black glass bugles and beads. Flora forms clasped at their edges so the embellishment holds structure without relying on the fabric. Long black bugles suspended from the centre of each motif fall freely against the skin.
